Guest guest
Hi Carole, I have to admit that depression has been very common for me after all my surgeries (7). I think it is a combination of post operative pain, the pain medications themselves, and for me, the general anesthesia really added to it. The recent surgeries where I had an epidural have really decreased the amount of depression for me. I also have this wacko theory that isn't based on anything scientific at all, but, after all my surgeries, strangely enough, my period has started. I am perimenopausal, and haven't had a period for 6 months, and lo and behold, the day after my total knee replacement, my damn period started. I understand that a lot of women have experienced this after the DS surgery. Well, I assume that a boatload of hormones that are causing this, are also contributing to the emotional swings. I mean I am crying at commercials on tv! Laughing...and not even the touching ones! I have not heard anything at all about suicides ever in any of my reading. But I can tell you, a long walk off a short pier does sound engaging after surgery! (Fortunately, I am too damn tired to do it!) Theresa > . Does anyone else know if this is true? > Carole
