Guest guest
Hello! We have the same surgery date, fun! Surgery buddies! I am feeling all of that, too.. but my doctor originally suggested it last September and I had a terrible time. Insurance won't pay, so I am off to Mexico. I am with you on wanting advice on prep before surgery, maybe it will make these days go faster.. Guest guest
Hi. Welcome to the group. I'm new to this group too but I am just about 8 months post-op and down 136.5 lbs. Congradulations on getting your surgery date, July 6th isn't too far away. I remember I had alot of sugar-free jello and popcycles waiting for me when I came home from the hospital. I pretty much lived on broth and fat-free creamed chicken soups for the first few months. I had some trouble in the beginning keeping liquids down though so it took me a while to go to soft, pureed foods. Most people aren't on liquids for as long as I was. I made the mistake of lifting a crate of 24 bottles of spring water about 4 weeks after surgery...that's a definite no-no. I ended up with a real severe hernia that they didn't find until about two months later. So that's why I had so much trouble keeping even liquids down. Once the hernia was repaired things got alittle better. So my best advice to you...DON'T lift anything heavy until the doc clears you to. I sure learned from my mistake... Well good luck with your surgery, everything will be fine. You'll be so happy you did this once you see the weight start coming off. It's a great feeling.
