No, but I wish I had a dr like you did! I was very uncomfortable

while the drwassnipping my wires because my stitches were pinching

and pulling while the res was holding my cheeks back. My lovely OS

commented ya we could do this in a quick 10min with nopain if you

were unconscience but this is more fun. Then he said ya you would be

a first for that too. I really wish someonecared a little about my

discomfort and pain.:( Maybe I am a baby but childbirth was easy and

the nurses were inpressed that I went 12 hours with serious

contractions and little pain med! But my OS doesn't know about

that. I HATE being a problem patient but I just am having a hard

time with all this. Although I haven't said much to my OS to be too

big of a problem. Oh well...

I wish you'd had Dr. Z., too. He has a big practice, and is in one

of the biggest and busiest groups who do this work here. And I would

wager that not one of them would put up with what that creep has put

you through.

Actually, it turned out that the partner who assisted in my surgery

(I got really pissed that morning because I thought my surgeon had

gone over to talk with a big, tall basketball-playing orderly before

he came to talk with me -- turned out it was one of his partners who

was going to assist) is a best friend to the son of one of my best

friends who actually took me to dinner the night before surgery, and

then delivered me at the hospital at 12:01 on the Tuesday night I

had the op. [that's hard loyalty to find!] She also (without telling

me she'd had a very painful breast cyst removed) drove me 30 miles

home the next day, and back another 30 to her home, even though she

was driving from Alabama to Missouri with little children the next

day after that. Such friends are treasures beyond belief!

Honest to pete, somebody needs to tell this guy who has been working

on you that he sounds like a sadist. I don't know whether he is, but

that's how he comes off... It's one thing to joke about waiting

another week to remove a splint, and a very different one to suggest

that he enjoys subjecting you to pain.

Yuck!

Don't post his name, or you might get sued. But he's a bad bargain,

even if he does most excellent work. There are many who do excellent

work and are caring and compassionate. I cannot imagine a surgeon

even making a joke about enjoying a patient's pain. That is, purely

and simply, obscene.

I do not believe it is a virtue to force anyone to endure pain,

unless the relief would endanger you or the child you were bearing.

Some topical anesthetic, I suspect, would have relieved at least

some of your pain, without threatening any of your life processes.

Again, I'm no doc, but really!

And I do not think you're a problem patient. I think he's a problem

doc, and I predict no good things for him in the future. (What I

would do is to be very talkative about his approach with anybody who

might need an oral surgeon in the near future. Not in writing, but

by word of mouth. Your friends need someone better.)

(>:~<) -- [that means I am angry, if you need a translation.]

!!!

Hmmm. Is your regular, general dentist better? (You've probably said

yes, already. Could hardly be worse.) Tell him what's going on -- he

refers patients to oral surgeons, too!!! -- and ask for help. I'd

bet he could get those stitches out for you with less grief. Why not

ask?

Thanks Cammie, I believe most Dr's are caring and compassionate-this

guy- is obviously on an ego trip. I just can't wait until I am

through trusting him with my care!
