back again and funny sensation on roof of mouth

Man i am just one week post op today and i have been in the hospital

twice! i got surgery last monday and came home wednesday..

apparently unknown to myself i missed 2 antibiotic doses and wound

up with a fever on friday and a lot of pain... next thing you know i

am back in the hospital on friday and just getting out today!

I had a ton of complications at the hospital and was miserable

saturday night.. they took me off the morphine and put me on perkeset

(sp?) which did nothing for me.. instead they had to preform open

surgery in my room (ok exaggerating but it felt like it) and put a

PIK line because my IV kept blowing and i am so damn scared of

needles that they couldn't find any veins.. for 12 hours i had no

medicine and no pain meds.. i wanted to die...

anyways i am home now and was wondering every time i eat i get the

weirdest sensation on my tongue and the roof of my mouth.. kind of

like i burnt it.. is this normal ?

My god...what an ordeal you went through...thank goodness you made it

through ok!

As to the roof of your mouth, that's as best I can tell you the

beginning of the return of sensation...that's how I remember mine

starting...matter of fact I thought that since my face had come bk

quickly-like 2wks it started, which is unusally quick, that my pallet

was back with it...but nope. it's got quit e few more stages to

go...first is this one, then it may almost feel " spongy " when you

push on it or close tight...it's all part of the healing

process...don't you feel better to just be able to ask and feel

normal

Hang in there and remember to EAT and DRINK as much or as often as

you can...really helps the heal.
