Guest guest
Amber, I would not let the doctor put on another set of casts since they can actually cause damage (complications) to the foot by improperly casting your son. It sounds as though they really don't know how to manipulate and cast properly based on what you've told us thus far. Don't worry about losing some correction and leaving him cast free for a short period of time. Dr. Dobbs will be able to achieve an amazing amount of correction with just a few *properly applied* casts compared to months of treatment with standard non-Ponseti castings. Get the cast off, enjoy his sweet tootsies, and take LOTS of pictures of his feet so that you have something to look back on and be amazed at where you started from. Those pictures of crooked feet are precious reminders to us clubfoot mommies of just how wonderful the end results are! Plus you can show them to your son when he grows up! My almost 6 year old daughter likes to look at her baby pictures of herself in her cast and brace. I've met Dr. Dobbs, he's great! I've heard wonderful things about him, so you're going to love him and the fantastic care he'll give your baby! Keep us posted on your plans and please use us for advice if you run into any roadblocks. They'll probably be able to get you in there very soon! We're glad you're here and we look forward to reading your updates! & (3-16-00, left clubfoot) http://ponseticlubfoot.freeservers.com/ > > ok i was just wondering do i need to let them take the cast of and put > another set back on till i can get an appointment up in st louis or > just have them take the casts off and wait till we get up there ?. > > amber >
Guest guest
Amber, They are casting incorrectly and could be doing more harm than good. My inclination would be to have the cast removed and just wait until you can come to St. Louis. Of course it is always good to have the professional opinion, you can email Dr. Dobbs directly at mattdobbs@... - he is very good about answering emails promptly. > > ok i was just wondering do i need to let them take the cast of and put > another set back on till i can get an appointment up in st louis or > just have them take the casts off and wait till we get up there ?. > > amber >
