Guest guest
Hello, I was just wondering what type of nasal surgery you had during your jaw surgery. I have to have surgery to correct my nasal passages but my dr. says I need to have it before the jaw surgery could be done. I am curious as to what you had done and if it made your recovery any more difficult having it done at the same time as the jaws.
Guest guest
The nasal surgery that I had was a septoplasty (they straightened my deviated septum) and also a reduction of my inferior turbinates. I don't know if the recovery was more difficult with the nasal surgery, but i assume it probably was. I couldn't breathe through my nose for the first week, which was a real pain. I don't think that would have been the case if they didn't do the nasal surgery, but I'm not completely sure. > > Hello, > I was just wondering what type of nasal surgery you had during your > jaw surgery. Guest guest
Hi, I had surgery 3/9 for upper (split)/lower/genio/wisdom tooth out. I'm doing ok. My speech isn't very good either- I am all muffled and garbled. I have a splint and I am banded, but not yet very tightly. These days, I'm eating jello/pudding/custard, very smooth and creamy mashed potatoes, my mom made me pumpkin pie to eat the filling out of , soup, and protein drinks like carnation instant breakfast and boost. I can just barely fit a flat-headed spoon in there and I kind of slurp whatever off the spoon. Oh, and I'm drinking lots of milk, milk shakes, and hot cocoa. My problems for the most point have cleared up... at least the major not normal recovery type things. I have numbness certainly and discomfort. Not much pain per se right now though. I am very very tired these days however. I tire easily and don't have a lot of stamina. I, like you, had problems sleeping the first week or more. I am sleeping through the night too, FInally!! Now I can't stop sleeping actually! The first week was hard because I was always taking meds and so uncomfortable from one thing or another. I got no sleep for days and days afterwards. That's great you are finally sleeping. I too try to clean my teeth the best I can but the backsides of my teeth are problematic. They feel very gross. I just don't have any manueverability with the baby tooth brush to get in there very well. I interchange between phosflur and listerine (surgeon okayed the listerine at my one week post op appt.) I still have sutures falling out. It's always satisfying when I see another wash down the sink when I rinse. I have sensations like tightness in my cheeks and chin that I don't really relish. The muscles will feel very tight or knotted or just odd and uncomfortable- not loose or relaxed. I dont like it, but sensation is better than nothing, so I tolerate it the best I can. Glad to hear you are doing well. We sound like we're pretty much on the same page!! Keep in touch, Katja > > Hi all, I've heard people posting lately who had surgery within days > of me-- > March 8th, and I just wanted to check in to see how you are doing.
