Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've been lurking for a couple of months, and everyone's posts and stories have been really helpful. I got braces in February 2001 (just before i turned 20), and lost some time because I moved from California to Michigan. Also, there was some ambiguity in how to treat my case. On March 2nd, I'll be getting a mandibular advancement and genioplasty with Dr. Norman Betts. (Anybody else have him?) My orthodontist is Macnamara; I like him a lot. I was very, very nervous initially; I had a lot of doubts as to whether to do this surgery or not. once i decided to go ahead and do it, my anxiety lifted. Dr. Betts seems really optimistic about when i'll be able to return to school. (I am in law school). If i'm not too self-conscious about my appearance, he anticipates that i'll be able to return to school in as little as two days. fortunately, surgery is in the middle of my spring break so i won't need to do that. Anyhow, I had a few questions for y'all-- 1. Awhile ago, somebody posted the top 20 or so things you need after surgery. zip-n-squeeze bags, incline pillows, whiteboard, etc. Does anybody have that handy, and if so, would you mind e- mailing it to me? 2. Not too long ago, somebody sent out a request for vegetarian recipes that could be blenderized. If you wouldn't mind (anybody on the board) sharing a vegetarian recipe with me, I would greatly appreciate it. 3. How long did it take for you to be able to work out again? What sort of workouts did you do to begin with? I work out about 5-6 days per week, and i've been eating really healthy and cutting down the booze and sugar and other bad habits in the hopes of getting super healthy and experiencing a quick recovery. I think i'll feel a lot better if i can get to the gym sooner rather than later in the process. Thanks in advance for your help. This board is pretty amazing, and I'm so impressed with the way everyone here helps each other out. Anybody else getting surgery around March 2nd, and looking for a surgery buddy? Also, indian food blends really well. my mom has passed on some indian recipes to me (she's such a great cook!) and i'm happy to pass some blendable recipes on to anybody who asks... Take care, and good luck everyone! sorry for such a long post! Pamela
