Guest guest
I had lower jaw surgery on 3/09. With Dr. O'ryan at Kaiser in Oakland. Today 3/21 I had my 1st post-op appt. They removed the rubber bands that were tightly wound around my mouth. It was a weird feeling to have them cut and removed. I was able to brush all my teeth for the 1st time in days. They then put in 2 removable rubber bands stretched in a triangle around the hooks attached to my braces. I can remove them to eat or brush my teeth. I could talk ok tightly banded but it hurt my mouth with the chafing against the bands. With the bands removed I can talk much better. I mostly had juices and strained soups. The 1st 10 days I didn't have anything with sugar or milk it made my throat have mucus and I had a terrible fear of not being able to breathe while I was tightly banded. I did finally have mashed potato soup and cream of wheat. I can now start to eat soft foods, I was getting so tired of having just liquids. One thing that helped with yucky breathe and helping to keep my mouth clean was TheraBreath Oral Rinse. I used it several times a day. My new hobbie to pass the time is entering contests. I found a site: http://www.online-sweepstakes.com Maybe I'll win something, if not it helped pass the time until I got unbanded. Good Luck to Everyone on there Surgeries & Recoveries...
