Guest guest
Hello to all, Could some of you please take a look at the before pics of my daughter Maysa in the M folder on page 90. We took her to CT this past Wednesday and I don't know what to make of it. We did not get a sheet of her measurements but when I asked, the PT told me she was at a 7mm and then told me that she had moderate brachy-plagiocephaly. What do you think? Her head is changing every day it seems and I think that I am going crazy. She has been handling tummy time a lot more just within this past week but she still sleeps a lot, on her back... I felt that the therapist at CT was trying to sell us the band and didn't even have us talk to their insurance specialist. As much as I was anxious to pay them a visit, I am quite disappointed. Also, after examining her the therapist was saying that the fact that she has a right tort makes it hard for her to turn right, which is so not the case. What she can't do is tilt her head left. When I said that, she looked at her again and said oh yes, she (my daughter) was just trying to trick her. Needless to say that I wasn't too impressed... Leila, mother of Maysa (5 months, right tort, brachy-plagio)
Guest guest
Hi Leila- I agree with what everyone else has said so far. I think the plagio is mild (which is where the 7mm comes into play) and it seems like her brachy is more moderate, which is probably where the therapist was getting that it is a moderate case (especially when they have to treat both brachy and plagio which is more difficult combined, it can increase the level of severity of the case overall). Do you have the Cephalic Ratio number from her assessment? I don't put a ton of stock in measurements alone, but I think if you'd get that number, you might see where she's more moderate than mild. Which CT did you go to and who did you see for the eval? I didn't talk to an insurance specialist at our eval either, so I don't think that's anything to be concerned about. Do you already have a script for the band? Guest guest
Thank you everybody for the replies so far. To answer some of you questions, I went to the CT in ndale, VA. I saw Vatalaro who gave me great physical exercises to do with Maysa. She did not give me the cephalic ratio but told me that my daughter had quite some length in her skull but that she still had more brachy than plagio. It is interesting to me because she really started with plagio back when we noticed it. I have sent her an e-mail requesting that info. I am going to wait until I see Eastern Cranial Affiliates on Wednesday. They make a different helmet and I yet have to hear something negative about them. Anyway, I still welcome other comments and will keep you posted on what her cephalic ratio is as soon as I get the info. Thanks!
