Guest guest
Congratulations!!!! and welcome!!! Alice hardestyal hardesty@... new to link Am new to this Gastric Bypass Family. I was surfing the different WLS websites, found this one, it's great lots of information.. I had gastric bypass on May 5th of 2003, it has saved/changed my life ..I have spent the last 18 years being aleast 100 lbs overweight, like most morbid obese pts I developed muliple health programs from heart diease to diabetes before I finally decided to have the weight loss surgery and start living again..was the best this I have ever done for myself..I have lost 140 lbs in the last 11 months, I was one of the lucky ones, no post op complications or major set backs.. I went into surgery with the attitude that I needed give 100% of myself to make this successful, and so far I have been successful .. Sure I miss eating lots of things but find that for the first time in my life I am making better eating choices...I think that the best thing I did was surround myself with people who were going to give me positive feedback and alround good support..it made a hugh difference in my recovery and success.. I didn't want to be around people who had negative thoughts about WLS.. I feel like I am finally living my life at 44 years of age..I would like to talk with others who have gone thru this surgery.. Guest guest
A big Congrats to you!! Welcome ! I had my surgery 5/17/03 and have lost a total of 132lbs in the past 11 mos. As well as became pregnant and have a 7 week old baby girl. I come to this site almost everyday and can barely begin to tell you how encouraging and motivating it is to read what other people have experienced as well as learn what I should/shouldn't be doing or taking. It has been a tremendous help with my weight loss. I too feel that I am barely beginning to live my life the way it was intended to be lived. So carefree and able to move around, run after my toddler without getting out of breath and having to stop and the best joy is when she wraps her arms around my leg. She never would've been able to do that without the weight loss. I am so looking forward to this warm weather when camping and trips to the amusement park will be planned without the hesitation. It's a whole new life. A wonderful new life, like being born again! The other day I went shopping and didn't know where to look for my sized clothes because I was so used to always having to shop in the Women's section, I had no clue where the misses section was. That was a great feeling as well as a little confusing. Once again, Cograts to you!!! and Welcome! lap 5/17/03 326/194/145(goal)
