Guest guest
was the asacol for 5 days your docs instructions? Asacol usually takes a few days just to start working...I think most people get worse on intro for the first few days, and then slowly better then worse then better ect. 2 steps forward 1.5 backwards. It's hard.I would take the medicine to calm things down, it will help you heal much faster.-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 7 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 5 pills a dayTo: btvc-scd From: earthymom88@...Date: Thu, 4 Feb 2010 05:15:33 -0800Subject: Worse before better? Can someone get worse on the intro? I've been doing the intro for two days and I still can't go to the bathroom. And last night a little bit of mucus came out. I have some canasa in suppository form and I wonder if I should take them to calm down my gut. I'm also taking asacol but only for 5 days. Any thoughts? I was thinking maybe I need the intro for another day? Hotmail: Powerful Free email with security by Microsoft. Get it now.
Guest guest
On Christmas eve I was told what I have-uc. My doc said " take your medicine and eat what you want " . Huh? That makes no sense. I've been trying to figure this out through food and waivered btw having some soaked grains (oatmeal and barley) and then thinking that was wrong (just from reading through the scd sites. My doc initially gave me the asaco (6/day) and suppoitories. I didn't trust him because be also told me " stop doing research because it has already been done " Oy. So here I am starting at the beginning bc I didn't know about the phases. Truly day 3. I am just worried bc I don't have insurance But I'm a very determined person I think I needed reassurance that I'm not doing harm. Thanks > >was the asacol for 5 days your docs instructions? Guest guest
I was told the same thing. Eat what you want. I do not understand the resistance to diet changes. I too felt like I was out on a limb here without support from my GI doc. I would not even want to discuss this with him. My attitude starting SCD was that I had nothing to lose and everything to gain from trying it, I'm in my 10th month. It's a long slow process to feeling better, but thankfully I do feel much better. I remember being afraid at first too, but it's a healthy diet and I do not believe it does any harm, and can do a world of good. Starting out is a big change, but you get used to it and the cooking gets easier with practice. PJ > > > > >was the asacol for 5 days your docs instructions? While they're a helpful guide, I think they can be unnecessarily limiting. <g> My cheese cake didn't turn out very well, either. I didn't tolerate the cooked carrots at all. And I was feeling too lousy to fiddle with it and figure out why. I ate two kinds of roast, steamed zucchini, and soft boiled eggs I tolerated eggs, which are usually counter-indicated in brisk diarrhea) from the beginning. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
