Guest guest
My oldest son had the ATTT when he was 25 months old. I wouldn't set my mind to that yet though. Dr. P often has excellent results with re-casting at this age, and I've been seeing it more and more since the 5 years ago when we had the ATTT. The ATTT in general though is " minor " compared to most cf surgeries. My son had very bad feet, and back then " atypical " and " complex " just weren't terms we heard much about but looking back now I realize there were probably on the extreme end of atypical. The surgery was successful in allowing him to walk normally although for whatever reason he does continue to have tightness in his ankle area that is probably more due to tightness in his heel. I will note that he did not start with a Ponseti Method treatment and we didn't switch to Dr. Ponseti until he was nearly 2 years old and much damage had been done by his previous doctor. Best of luck, (PS did Ponseti suggest a shoe to perhaps help avoid more problems?) s. Relapse Hi, I am new to this group, but a HUGE supporter no less! Our story started with an ultrsound done at around the sixth month on our pregnancy. We had many ultrasounds because we have twins. They noticed during this ultrasound that one child had bi-lateral clubfoot. At the time we were told that there were couple doctors in the area (Des Moines, Iowa) that would be able to help us and that with a couple of surgeries Macie would be just fine. As soon as we got home I started to collect all of the information that I could regarding clubfoot and we decided that we would travel anywhere that we had to find the best care for our daughter. After only a couple of sites it became apparent to me that there were lots of other options to surgery, mainly the Ponseti Method. Three weeks after birth and many months of fighting the insurance company to allow us to save them thousands of dollars and get the best care for Macie we were clear to go see Ponseti. Macie's feet were quite severe with deep creases on both feet. After 8 casts we followed on with the shoes and felt that she was doing great. On Wednesday we had a follow up appointment with Dr. Ponseti and learned that at 20 months of age Macie's left foot is relapsing. We have been very consistant with her brace and she wears it every night so this came as a shock to us. He said that most likely they will need to do a tendon transfer between 2 1/2 and 3 years. I am hoping to get any information that I can from any parents who have went through this or are going through this. I know that we are in the very best hands but just need as much information as I can get. I have looked online and haven't had much luck. Any help would be much appreciated.
