Guest guest
On Tuesday Hayden had his tenotomy casts removed and we had to put him back into holding casts while we get the s done up because we forgot to take the forms of his feet the day he had the tenotomies done. For anyone who is curious, you can have a gander at how his feet look on my blog at: http://boyhamham.blogspot.com/ Well, last night as I was getting him ready for bed, I took off his socks and discovered that his left cast had slipped (which also happens to be his " worse " foot. I know for sure that it was not like this in the morning because I put fresh socks on him and it was fine, but I have no idea when it might have slipped. It was quite far back but he seemed to be okay so hubby and I decided not to remove it unless instructed by Dr. Pirani the next morning. Around midnight he shifted his foot forward again and started screaming. It took awhile to get him calm again but he settled and seemed okay for the remainder of the night. I called Dr. Pirani's office this morning and was told he was in surgery until 1:00 this afternoon, but that his secretary would contact me when he could see Hayden or if someone else was available. I drove out to where the hospital is to hang around until he could see me and I got in around 2:00 at Dr. Pirani's office. He informed me that we had lost some correction due to the slippage and that the tendon was already tightening. He has recasted it and we made an appointment to get a new cast next Tuesday to re-correct the foot again. He DID confirm that the reason Hayden has Atypical (or Complex) clubfoot is because of all the slipped casts from Children's because he showed me how in such few hours the crease was already back across the bottom of the sole of his foot. I'm just so frustrated with all of this. It feels like FOREVER that we have been doing this and I feel like this is one step forward and two steps back. AARRGH! Thanks for letting me vent.
