Problems starting SCD diet

Hello,

This is my first post. I started the SCD diet a couple of days ago and have

noticed my symptoms have actually gotten worse. Some history:

I've been in a UC flare since mid-November. With prescription drugs

(Prednisone), as of last week I was able to get bowel movements down to 2-3x per

day, with some formation, but still a very slight amount of blood.

Two days ago I started the SCD. I had actually tried starting it about a month

ago but did not do it correctly; I basically jumped in too fast and just picked

foods off the list. I went back to the " low residue " type of diet for a couple

of weeks. Then earlier this week decided to try the SCD again, but this time do

it the right way.

With this in mind, since Tuesday I have followed the " Introductory Diet " to the

letter (although the " cheesecake " I made didn't turn out too good).

Anyway, since starting my bowel movements have actually gotten much worse. No

formation at all, complete diarrhea, and actually a little bit more blood/mucus

as well. Frequency is around 4-5 per day, so manageable.

My question is, is this normal when starting the diet? I read on Pecanbread.com

that, at least with children, it is normal to experience some changes in BMs as

the intestines are undergoing changes. But there is absolutely no mention of

this in the book, at least not that I can find, and I'm just wondering if others

have experienced this. I'm very hopeful that this diet might provide a natural

cure but again just trying to figure out what's going on right now, and if it is

safe for me to continue.

Thank you in advance for you ideas and experiences!

Peace,

Chris
