Guest guest
Your muscles are still getting used to being in their new positions. At about 5 or 6 weeks, my surgeon said I could " eat anything I wanted " . Reality was quite different. I suggest going slow, being patient with yourself. I had no biting strength for awhile. It will come back gradually. Test yourself each week with something that you couldn't manage the previous week and you'll likely find improvement. Today I can eat just about anything, although I definitely do not do the tall burgers for two reasons: [1] I'm a vegetarian now and [2] it's not good for your joints to open really wide. I'm much more careful about what and how I eat these days. Happy healing, > > Hi all, I am 5 weeks post-op and got my splint and rubber bands removed today. Guest guest
After 6 weeks I was unwired, I ate mashed potatoes, jello, soft ice cream, pudding, soft runny cheesecake, for two weeks with a baby spoon. I would have eaten more but I had a splint still in) I could open a cm the first day unwired and about three days later 2 cm now one week later an inch! It is so gradual it is like watching the clock it appears to be stand still then before you know it an hour has passed. I couldn't fit a baby toothbrush in until a week after being unwired.
