Guest guest
I had both upper and lower advancement. I was speaking relatively normal as soon as they took the splint out. However, I occasionaly tripped over my numb, large feeling lower lip. Guest guest
I found speaking to be tiring, and I also found that I slurred my words a bit as a result. This was even after 5 weeks off when I returned to work. i don't think having the surgery is something to hide from anyone at work. You're gonna have good days & bad days during your recovery, and you'll be limited in food options and will be taking a lot of time to cleanup. They need to give you some breathing space for that! I basically told folks when I went back that it was very tiring to talk, and that I was going to do as little talking as possible for the first week or so back. It's hard, I know, because everyone wants to hear your story, but you should try if you can. Hope that helps, (upper/lower/genio Aug 2002 - upper impacted, lower advanced, chin reduced & advanced) > > I am finally scheduled in to see the surgeon for a pre op appointment > on 2 May - that will make it about 1 year in braces. Guest guest
It's funny, I thought I was speaking clearly post-op but my husband told me (eventually) that I was mumbling. Thank goodness for the whiteboard! > > > > > > I am finally scheduled in to see the surgeon for a pre op > > appointment > > > on 2 May - that will make it about 1 year in braces.
