Re: the post below and the " car battery and red meat " post . . .

Yep, I've heard that Coke will clean your car battery posts, and break down red

meat. Baking soda will also clean your car battery posts . . . It's what I use.

I don't run from baking soda, and my husband drinks it for indigestion,

occasionally. I sometimes brush my teeth with it. Lemon juice and salt will

clean up a tarnished old penny really nicely. I still eat salad dressing and

scampi.

Spit will break down red meat, too, as will pineapple and papaya. What do you

think that meat tenderizer is? Pineapple or papaya enzymes, usually.

Tenderizing marinades? Wine and vinegar, anything acidic. I still use

pineapple, wine and vinegar. (I hate papaya.) As a matter of fact, I eat

something pickled, or use vinegar almost every day. I frequently eat lemon

juice, lime juice, and grapefruit juice, either in marinades, salad dressings,

or a squit in water. My regular caesar salads always have added lemon. Citrus

juices will both clean corrosion, and break down meat. As a matter of fact,

meat can be cooked in citrus, without any added heat. (Ceviche! yum!)

Come on, folks . . . *anything* in excess is a problem. Did you know that

unsweet tea (not necessarily to excess) causes iron absorption problems, and can

result in anemia? That too much water (swallowed) will *KILL* you? <evil grin>

Basically, I eat very little in the way of simple carbs . . . I cannot eat

sugars, potatoes, milk or cream (unless it's just enough for coffee) wheat

bread, any wheat products, oatmeal, etc . . . which means no breads, no pastas,

no sandwiches, no nothing . . . I am happy with my way of life, so I'm not

complaining, just pointing out that some of you eat things *I* would never think

of eating.

Try to keep things in perspective, OK? <grin> Diet soda will not harm me, nor

anyone else, in reasonable amounts. Except maybe with pouch gas pains . . .

<weak grin> if I drink it too fast, or straight out of the can. Fountain, over

ice, or a bottle that had the seal opened once and sits in the fridge for a day

or two are much easier on the gas (burping) issue. I am fighting off a

cold/sinus thing right now, pushing fluids, and have had several homemade

Italian sodas . . . strawberry. And yes, I still drink water. BUt drinking

other things gets more fluids thru me.

So, YMMV. Having done my research, and knowing the possible consequences, I

drink soda. It isn't going to hurt me. YOu can make your own decisions on it .

.. . but remember that you can't judge everyone by your experiences. (And no,

I'm not perfect, I still try to apply my experiences to others. But I'm

learning.)

Oh, and you know what? I sometimes put soda, or seltzer in my protein powder!

<grin>

year out. I know someone who started drinking it and now she drinks

about 2 24 packs a week.

Corn is one of the carbs I handle best. So, yes, I eat popcorn
