Yes, and there have even been some people who have received approval

for genioplasty from insurance companies on the basis of apnea, but

they are rare.

It can definitely help you get approval from the insurance folks, if

the stars are right ;~> so ask your docs, maybe including a sleep

specialist, for whatever documentation you can assemble.

i believe my insurance is already covering it, but the OS is still

charging me $4000 above what the insurance is covering. Does this

make sense?

I my circumstance, my surgeon is a " preferred care provider " for my

insurance company. So he has agreed with the insurance company to

charge only what they authorize.

Your surgeon may not have agreed to such a plan, in which case he

can charge whatever he thinks appropriate.

I know that my own sweet surgeon was having trouble with a different

insurance company because they wanted to pay only $1,500 for the

works. " I can't do it for that, " he told me.

I suppose that if your insurance company won't pay what the surgeon

thinks is appropriate, you have two choices: Either find another

surgeon who has such an agreement with your company, or pay the

extra yourself.

Best,

Cammie
