Guest guest
and Mona, Are you guys seeing anyone for this problem? Sometimes with all with are going through, even without the PTSD, we need professional help to keep us on an even keel. I can't imagine going through this with PTSD. I see my therapist 2 times a month and have been doing so for years. No one in your family could never really know what you are going through but a therapist that specializes with PTSD would be able to help you cope. HTH, and lots of prayers for both. Terri G. My PTSD's or bad memories put me in bad places. So I keep a tight eye on my anger. I am pretty sure it is the Pred and the only way I have to battle it is self control. I don't like pain meds. > > > > > > > hello, I have some of the same problem's. anger is awful. Over the past year's my PTSD has got somewhat under control, but now Im on the prednisone 50mg. im a bear.
Guest guest
Greg, I cannot imagine having NS, PTSD and trying to quit smoking. Whew, you might want to put up that sign!!! Just kidding. All I know was when I quit smoking I was a b**ch with a capital B. My husband said I was like Blair in the exorcist and told him in a demonic voice to " go buy me some cigarettes " . I had just had pneumonia and decided not smoke again after that. So as you can see, I wasn't sick yet and couldn't barely get by without them. One word of advice as far as quitting goes - when you want a cigarette remind yourself that you are addicted - I used to get up in the morning and say out loud " you are addicted cigarettes and you can't have them anymore " . It has been over 10 years and I did do it cold turkey. There will be times that you will want it more than ever and just remember you are stronger than that. As far as the PSTD - is there a VA Hospital you could go to get some help with it? I hate to think of you and others suffering needlessly. Take care and let me know how everything goes. Terri G. > OOOOOOOOOO and I am in the process of quitting nicotine a habit I have had for more then 20+ years. Today is day 8 no tobacco or nicotine. > > Think I should post a warning on my Door??? > > Greg > >
Guest guest
mosaicgirl1, Not smoking but dipping i.e. snuff. I use to do more the a can a day of Copenhagen. A Doctor once tried to help me quit and measured the amount of Copenhagen I would use at one time, and he said that the amount of nicotine I was intaking was equal to a smoker smoking a whole pack at once. I have found a way to wean down and quit. 11+ days of no tabacco or nicotine. working towards 6 weeks then I will know the nicotine is totally out of my system. If you know some one who dips and really wants to quit then give them my e-mail and I will share how I have quit so far. Guest guest
Greg, Whether you smoke it or dip it, you are still addicted. It reallys sucks doesn;t it. My Mom quit smoking when I was little and started smoking again 7 years later. She has tried to quit (she has emphysema) and she says that it was so easy to do when I was young. As we all know, they have manipulated the nicotine levels in a tobacco products to keep us addicted. I will say a prayer that you can beat it. Just keep up the good work and if you get the hankering to do it - remind yourself that you have the will power to over come it. As far as the PTSD, have you tried the local mental health system? I know a lot of clinics can do a fee based program - they base your payment on your income. Whether it is from the predisone, the things that happened to you or a combo of both, you just need someone to work with you. Well it was just a thought. HTH Take care and will talk to you soon. Guest guest
Terri G, Well it is a battle I have chosen to fight, and I do realize that it is a battle I will have to wage for the rest of my life. I have decided that I will see my Daughter Graduate College. Which she is attending her first year at this time. I want to spoil my grand kids. So I will win these battles. No because I deserve to but because I want to. No help for PTSD's ...................they say the never happened???
