Gee, when I get my surgery, I can drool, smear my food all over my

face, be black and blue, worry incesantly about alignment, loose teeth

and such, have nightmares, experience numbness in all sorts of places,

gnaw the inside of my mouth raw, spit gross stuff in the sink, dig

ickout of my nose, and know that I am

TOTALLY NORMAL!

You can't imagine how much I've learned and become comfortable with my

own future surgery just by lurking.

Those people who are at various points post-surgery (days, weeks and

years out) THANK YOU for posting. I really do appreciate it.

Steph,

Sounds more like the exorcist huh? Well things do go hay wire there

at the beginning but then slowly get back to normal-well the new

normal. I have been through several stages. Miserable, more

miserable (week one) hungry, obsessed with food (week two) lost

hunger just strange new interest in foods and recipes (week 3,4,5)

Recovery week 6. And here I am wearing elastics and already a postop

OT visit. I am getting prepared for almost anything. My OT decides

my braces may not get yanked off by the end of May! Whew...all this

and I don't want to end it unfinished and on the other hand I will be

referred to a new OT in Chattanooga....I just don't know. Once

again...these things take time. To think it all started when I was

15 and now I'm 26. Maybe by thirty I'll be wearing a big old smile!
