Guest guest
After 5.5 months and two helmets, we are done! My son, Marco, was diagnosed with severe brachiocephaly and moderate plagio when he was 4 weeks. I did repositioning to no avail and then he received his first Starband at 4.5 months from Arimed in NYC (Manhattan). He wore this helmet for 3 months during which time his brachi improved dramatically but his plagio went from 8 mm to 4 and then back to 8 again! After this, I switched orthotists and went to see Rochelle Silberman at Kidi-splint in Brooklyn based on a positive review from someone on this board. She diagnosed Marco with forehead bossing (it was too rounded and coming out a bit too far as a result of his prior helmet from Arimed) as well as plagio. She casted him for a new much-better- fitting Starband which he wore for 7 weeks. He has no assymetry at all now and his forehead is back to normal. Rochelle and her staff are very easy to work with. I never had to wait in the waiting room for any of our appointments for more a couple of minutes. And she encouraged me to call her on her personal cell with any questions or issues whenever I needed. I know many of the people on this board living in NY consider Cranial Tech in Paramus to be the only good choice for treatment. However, based on my experience I know there is at least one very good option much closer to home. We are so thrilled to be done with this process! For all of you just getting into the wonderful world of helmets -- it IS worth it, you just have to keep at it and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
