I'm going to hold off on the Luna bars for awhile tho; I'm sure I'd like them but they have so many carbs and I believe sugars, that I want to wait until I can be sure I'm going down down down first. I want to lose 100% of my overweight if possible, not 80 or 90% like statistics say we will. Your loss looks great Judy, I hope I do that well! Had I ordered just one or two, I might now have ordered more. They are OK, but the sickich sweet aftertaste from the sugar substitutes takes getting used to. --Steve >So I sent them an >email asking if I could order one at a time. Guest guest
Hi Sheryl I am 5 weeks post op. The shake that I liked pre-op, I couldn't stand Post-op. My suggestion is to wait - before spending lots of money on shakes. I also found that making my own shakes works best for me - there is a basic recipe in the files section of this website - I love it now!! Combine: 1 small container yougart 1/4 - 1/2 cup cottage cheese 1/4 - 1/2 cup egg beaters (white) Fruit of your choice - I've been using fresh pineapple and peaches 1/2 cup liquid (some use crystal light - I like juice myself) 3-5 ice cubes Put everything in the blender and enjoy!!! Each smoothie equals 23-29 grams of protein depending on what you add. I have even added vanilla, or almond extract for a little twist. I hope you enjoy. Guest guest
Micky, The biggest difference between other protein drinks and the Whey Delicious is the latter is berry flavored with no chalky taste. They are now going nationwide to be sold by surgeons too because so many of us can tolerate the berry flavor over the other stuff post opt. I cant explain it but you gotta try it. Its absolutly wonderful and I wished I had known about it before I tried all the other stuff. Even the smell is great!!! Smells like fresh berries in season! Guest guest
>....do you have any good recipes youve cooked up yet at home? Not for shakes. I am the cook in the household, though, but I rarely write things down. I like the challenge of seeing what's in the 'frige and what's on the shelves and whipping up something that is unlike what has gone before. But, my cooking is conventional, not DS or RnY related, as I eat normal things, just less of them. Recently, I rolled boneless beef shortribs in flour into which I had mixed salt and pepper, braised them in olive oil, then sauteed onion and garlic, put the braised shortribs back in the pot together with finely sliced carrots, celery and fresh mushrooms (and diced redskin potatoes) and added a bit of Worcestershire sauce and a bottle of heavy dark ale, covered and baked in a 325ºF oven for 2-1/2 hours. Yum. For variations, I use barbecue sauce stead of the beer and Worcestershire sauce and add fresh corn-on-the cob after first cutting the ears into four or five pieces. I bake fresh salmon fillets at 430ºF in a convection oven for 20 minutes. First, I slather Chinese duck (sweet and sour) sauce over it. Or, I marinate them first in a combination of Japanese sake and light soy sauce (Tamari sauce). etc. My cooking was one of the ways that I got fat. Actually, it wasn't the cooking; it was eating it that did the damage. --Steve --
Guest guest
I am absolutely happily addicted to ProScore 100 chocolate of course made by Champion. I also love Champions Pure Whey Protein Stack, again chocolate... I get mine from my nutritional guru AKA Vitalady. 9/24/01 326/
Guest guest
I just received the whey stack from Vitalady and it is awesome. I hated protein drinks before......tried many. This stuff is good and no aftertaste!!!! Try it! The green apple nectar is also a nice alternative but not as good as the stack! I still have to try the Proscore 100.......Hoping it is as good! Guest guest
What dense calories? My shakes have 160 kcal per, with 3 g. carb, 32 g. protein and no sugar. I mix with water or sugarfree stuff and I love 'em. If you mix with milk or juice you will get extra calories that you don't need. Guest guest
Hi Cindy, I was lucky that the very first protein powder I tasted I liked. It is Optimum 100% Whey Vanilla Ice Cream Flavor. I haven't tried it alone, but I'm getting there. I usually add half a banana, half an apple, 2 or 3 frozen strawberries, 8 oz water and maybe 6 ice cubes and blend in the blender. I have ordered sugar free banana and strawberry syrups from vitalady to get rid of the actual fruit, which may be adding too many calories to the shake. Good luck! Guest guest
Got my Vitalady protein shake samples today along with the DaVinci syrup (white chocolate.....my favorite flavor of ANYTHING). I noticed with the paperwork that she is know stocking Protein Delite. I can highly recommend it. I have had the strawberry white chocolate (see I told ya) flavor and the lemon cheesecake. Both are pretty good when mixed with 8 oz of water. O'Connell Haverhill Ma Open RNY 2/7/02 Pre op weight:248 Now:
