I went to see a new GI yesterday (luckily my primary GI wasn't able to see me this week so I got her by "accident"). She told me about a patient of hers that was ready for a colectomy and found SCD. Her words, "SCD literally saved her life." I'm so thrilled to find a doctor who believes that diet DOES make a difference. She scheduled me for a flex sig scope on Friday to see what's going on with my stubborn rectal inflammation/irritation. Thought I'd share the good news that there ARE doctors out there who "believe." Kathy UC since 12/05 SCD since 7/07 Symptom-free and med-free from 7/08 to 4/09 Back on sulfasalazine and various rectal meds since 4/09 Hotmail is redefining busy with tools for the New Busy. Where are you located? maybe i'll switch docs! > Hi , I had outpatient surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome and they gave me one dose of IV antibiotics. Two weeks later, I started bleeding and about a week after that, I got pinkeye. In other words - two major flags for inflammation! I had not had one spec of bleeding since being first diagnosed in May 2006, so it was a major bummer. I went back to intro, tried eliminating all kinds of things (dairy, fruit, coffee, alcohol, various veggies, nuts) and nothing changed the bleeding. It never got really bad. Canasa got rid of it for several months, but it didn't work as well the next time. I'm going in for a flex sig tomorrow to see what's going on. Oh, and I meant to say that I'm in Southern California, which probably won't help you (aren't you on the East Coast?) - but Gay emailed me a link to a list of SCD-friendly doctors. Maybe you can find one near you: http://www.scdiet.net/medical.htm Kathy
