Guest guest
Beth, Antimony and arsenic can cause severe stomach and intestinal problems. This poisoning can lead to very irritated, and even ulcerated digestive tracts. Keep in mind that there hasn't been that much research into the effects on children. Antimony is nearly identical to lead, electro-chemically. They can cause nerve problems. My hypothesis is that the poisoning causes leaky gut, which causes symptoms of autism. Someone else who is a frequent contributor to this list, I won't give her name because I didn't ask permission, called me this evening and said that her child had also used a Graco Pack & Play. I don't know if this partcular product has an abnormally high level of these elements, or if it's just that much more popular than other playpens. I need to amend my request and add that I need to know the manufacturers of autistic childrens' bassinet mattresses, crib mattresses, and playpens (those children who have elevated levels of antimony and arsenic). I doubt if your older child is being poisoned by the playpen, but I would discontinue using it to protect your younger child. Your older child may be getting poisoning from their bed mattress. It is law that all mattreses be treated with a flame retardant, and that is where the antimony and arsenic comes in. You could check his mattress and see if there is any signs of a pink fungus. If there is, your child is definitely being poisoned by it, but you may not be able to see it and it could still be there. A few of us mothers were able to see the fungus upon examination. I don't know if you've read my previous posts explaining this, but over time, and it can begin within a month of use, a fungus begins to grow on crib mattresses. It interacts with the arsenic and antimony in the mattress and forms a gas that is breathed in by the child. Sometimes the child is fatally poisoned, and dies of SIDS. Now we are finding out what happens when the child doesn't die. Please send me the exact levels, with reference ranges, if you would like to be involved in the class action suit, as well as your phone number and I will include you in my report to the attorney. --- Beth Murty wrote: > , or Someone else, > > Could you answer a few questions I have about this? > I am fairly new to > GFCF and have just recently signed up for this > 'board'. > > My questions are: > > What do Arsenic and Antimony do to our children? > > AND - If I have a 9 1/2 yr. old with possible PDD, > who just had a hair > analysis done and has elevated levels of both > Arsenic and Antimony and she > slept in a Graco Pack and Play as a baby and is > still exposed to it on > trips, because her baby sister still uses it - could > this be because of the > Pack and Play or other things also? > > Thanks for responding either directly to me or on > the board - Beth > > > > > > At 03:12 PM 07/24/2001 -0700, you wrote: > >UPDATE: > >Graco admitted to me today that my baby's playpen > >contains antimony and arsenic.
