Guest guest
My undiagnosed 3 yo son has been cf/gf, corn free for 1 1/2 yrs. He could tolerate soy and potatoes in the beginning, but this spring began reacting to these. His doctors want to rechallenge him with wheat to test for celiac. I am concerned because my son has mild seziures when exposed. My questions are for anyone who has lived through a gluten rechallenge: 1. How long did you rechallenge before testing, and was it long enough? 2. How much wheat did you rechallenge with? 3. What did you use to rechallenge (bread, cereal, pasta)? 4. What types of symptoms did you see and when? 5. How long after stopping the rechallenge did symptoms go away? 6. Where there any long term effects that you believe were caused by the rechallenge? Any other input would be appreciated. If you prefer, please respond privately to mplocki1@.... Thanks, Merry Plocki, 3 yo w/ diagnosed sensory integration disorder and undiagnosed PDD. Guest guest
Hi Ms. Confusion - I believe what you just wrote below is coorrect. I'm skimming through my emails now so we can go out under the sprinkler, so I didn't read the other post - but did read yours Beth and I think you're right - unless now we're both wrong !!!!!! I believe that now if LJ was to even get the slightest bit of gluten into him, he'd be wasted for a couple days. His body is so use to (15 months now) of 100% free that any little bit could be a disaster. Its like an alcoholic I was explained - that they use to drink the alcohol and function - but functioning under a stupor, tried getting sober, but having some daily oe weekly slip ups, and now being TOTALLY sober for over a year, they can't even take one little sip of a drink or that one drink has more of a reaction then when they were consuming alcohol on a 24/7 basis. Made alot of sense to me, since I know a recovering alcoholic and this is exactly how his pattern of life is. ***** On Wed, 25 Jul 2001 12:24:15 -0700 Beth A Ranucci writes: > (Parenthesis added above to highlight my confusion!!!!!) > This surprises me....I had thought from all this reading I've been > doing > lately ()) on gfcf issues that over time (ON the diet) you have to > be > MORE careful with infractions, almost as if the body gets less and > less > able to tolerate the foods once you've eliminated them.
