Guest guest
i just wanted to share what helped a lot with anxiety on my way to the operating room. i believe it was deanna that told me about listening to headphones/cassettes right before and during her surgery. i talked with my surgeon and anesthesiologist before surgery and they both said that would be fine. i picked my favorite cd (praise and worship music that the band i sing in performs), and when i was wheeled down the hall from the pre-op room into surgery i was listening to what truly comforted me. i had to take it off to be transferred onto the surgery table, but the or staff immediately got me set up again. as i was drifting off, i was able to listen to my music, not all the preparations in the room. i had also asked to have it remain on during the surgery (didn't want to hear any " OOPS " in my subconcious). i have never asked if that happened, but it sure helped right before hand. ~amy~ dr k/delano open ds 4/13/01 -100 pounds so far
