Talk about awkward subjects...

I am continuously concerned that I have bad breath with all this

hardware in my mouth, no ability to really brush and no access to my

tongue to clean it!! (It's starting to feel not only neglected, but

tingly and like there is a layer of ickyness growing on it- especially

after the fat and protein shakes from the health food store- YUCK!)

Any suggestions?

LISTERINE STRIPS!!!!

They are wonderful, and I can't live without them now.

WEll, I got my wires cut on December 23rd, I still hade the splint

for another 2 weeks after that, and for christmas in my stocking, my

loving hubby put lifesavere, listerine (travel size) and

toothpaste!!!

when I was wired, I just rinsed with Listerine 3 times a day. I

even bought something called " therabreath " and that just tasted more

horrible.

That is very not reassuring. Today is a crappy day... I am losing too

much weight and can't stomach the disgusting energy drinks. I am 9 days

post-op and will have the wires and splint for another 10 days. I don't

think I will make it. I'm 5 " 2 and already down from my regular 102 to

92 lbs and I feel week and irritable. Last night I was up half the

night with a painful blister on my tongue that I scraped against the

splint and orthodontic bands until it burst. My mouth feels like a

nuclear explosion. I am rinsing with ACT (they said not to use

alcoholic rinses) But still feel like I don't want to be within 10 feet

of anyone with a nose. Today I was at the deli trying to buy a bottle

of Apple Juice and it was the most infuriating experience. There was no

one in the store except the employees and they refused to pay attention

to me and I did not want to grunt " hello! " so I stood there like an ass

getting more and more infuriated. I am also pre-menstrual which always

makes me clumsy and irritable and since I probably won't get a regular

monthly period with all this weight loss, the PMS stage is gonna last

extra long. I'm also annoyed at my doctor because he was supposed to

use rigid fixation screws if he was unable to pull my wisdom teeth

during the surgery. He didn't pull my wisdom teeth and he didn't use

the rigid fixation. I could not speak well enough too ask him why. I'm

annoyed. What a crappy day this is gonna be....

So many posts here are upbeat or just very informative. Sorry of this

one is a downer. I can't be the only one who goes through this stage...

Hang in there. Things will get better. You really do need to get

some nourishment in you though. Have you tried Ensure or Boost. I

know, I know they are not the tastiest things but I was able to

stomach them. Even the instant breakfast powder was not appealing

but I managed to keep it down. Sometimes I also just went for

regular or chocolate milk. Anything you can find with calories will

help.

Good luck and hope the day gets better for you.
