Guest guest
I've read a few posts about people needing to get more calories after surgery, and I just thought I'd share this... Starbucks is currently serving a drink called Chantico Drinking Chocolate which is, in my opinion, the most delectable liquid I have ever put in my mouth. It's a rich, velvety drink that is served in little 6 oz. cups...probably because the calorie and fat content is so huge! (But it also has a good bit of fiber.) It costs $2.65 a cup in my town. This delicious concoction boasts an insane 390 calories and 21 grams of fat, along with 6 grams of fiber. (I know all this because I'm counting Weight Watchers Points right now, hehe.) It also has 25% of the daily recommended calcium, and 30% of iron. You can get the full nutritional value here: http://www.starbucks.com/retail/nutrition_beverage_detail.asp? selProducts=162 & strAction=GETDEFAULT & x=13 & y=7 Anyway, it is not " healthy " by any means, but I am a chocolate lover and I could have easily drank four of them if I wasn't trying to lose a few pounds. If you are having a hard time getting enough calories, one of these might give you a boost in your intake. They've also got a delicious Caramel Apple Cider that has a good number of calories. Just be careful of those fat grams and other bad things...I'm not sure how they affect healing, if they do. And I haven't had my surgery yet so I'm not sure of all the nutritional stuff the docs tell you for post-op recovery. These may be horrible for recovery for all I know. I just knew that the calorie count was high for a small volume and it should be easy to drink when you're still on liquids. ~
