Pain and Numbness 1 Year On

Hi. my name is Helen, and about a year ago I had surgery on

both my upper and lower jaw. Everything was a success,

although I did have to have a blood transfusion as I lost too

much blood, but other than that no problems.

Since then however, I have been getting a pain in the top joint of

my bottom jaw on the left hand side, and the numbness that I

had in my chin (which at one point did get better) gets worse

when I have this pain. This only happened once over the

summer so I wasn't too concerned, but recently it is happening

every few weeks.

Just really wanted to know if anyone else has had this

experience and if so what did they do - the hospital have been

very unhelpful.

Thanks

Helen.

Hi Helen,

Sorry to hear you are having problems. I would suggest you call the

surgeon and also talk to your ortho. It could be a temporary phase (I

have some noise in the right joint, called crepitis, and my ortho

explained this is normal as the jaw joint is still remodelling post-

op).

Hope that helps,
