Guest guest
I too have a lot of stretch marks from my obesity. My lower stomach is really disgusting. Besides that I had 2 c-sections. My surgery was fairly recent so my incision is still kind of reddish. I know that will fade and it will look a lot better than the saggy skin on my thighs and the ripples on my fat apron. As much as I dread another surgery, I know I am going to have to have a tummy tuck when I am further out. I can't stand this apron and I won't spend the rest of my life putting medicated powder there to prevent infection. Kathy M. I have problems now, pre-op, with sweat rashes, and didn't know there was a powder to prevent it. Thank you, Sheryl

I do use a prescription cream, Exelderm, but it's not good for the skin. And it seems the more I get it the more sensitive my skin is to it, so the more likely it is to get it. I use cornstarch as a means to prevent it, but have limited sucess. Guest guest
Hi All, With regard to rashes...I have suffered from rashes all my life and tried all kinds of cures including powders, cornstarch, cremes, and prescription remedies. The powder gave temporary relief, as did the cornstarch. The cremes seemed to make things worse, even the percription cremes, due to the fact that they were greasy and wet, and seemed to only move the discharge around rather than blot it up. One day my mom called and told me about this new powder she had been advised about from her pcp called Zeasorb. It is handled in the pharmacy behind the counter but you don't need a perscription. I went to Waldgreens and go some. It is the best remedy I have found. With a couple of applications a day the rash goes away within 2-3 days. I just had a really bad rash on my upper thigh and under arm. When I went for my follow up with Dr. Gagner he gave me a perscription for some cream. I hadn't time to go the pharmacy for a day or so, but I used my zeasorb powder daily. Today I was going to go and pick up the creme, but my rash is already gone! Try this stuff. It's is really great! You will not be disappointed and will find lots of relief. Guest guest
my hubby and i have both had problems with the rashes, and the thing we find to work the best, along with using a blow dryer to dry the area first, is GOLD BOND MEDICATED POWDER. it comes in a yellow container. it hurts some when you apply it to the rash, but that goes away quickly and then the rash heals quite nicely. if that one seems too harsh, you might try their medicated baby powder. best wishes on finding relief ~amy~ open ds 4/13/01 - dr k in delano 5 months out and minus 105 pounds only 50 more to go WOOHOO!! Guest guest
Oddly, my derma said that vit E might be worse than nothing! Weird, huh? All I know is that it had 0 effect for me and I did it faithfully with all scars until I discovered Scargo. However, whatever you do to the outside has no effect on keloid since that happens inside. Guest guest
Vit E makes my scar redder and bigger! I happened to be reading about the benefits of Jojoba oil for hair and skin, so I bought a bottle while browsing at the Vitamin Shoppe. I've been rubbing that on my latest round of PS scars, and it seems to be doing the trick, or at least it's not getting worse like Vit E made it. I really don't think it's the oil itself, biut the massaging action that's breaking down the scar tissue, with the oil juts keeping the skin soft. Now, what is Scargo? Is it an oil, a cream or those sheets of paper/fabric that go over a scar? in NJ **************************** > Oddly, my derma said that vit E might be worse than nothing! Weird, huh? Guest guest
Something I learned after two total knee replacements was to do scar massage. Or they call it scar manipulation. It keeps adhesions from forming and it softens the scar. Wish I had done it on my RNY scar, because my knee scars look pretty good. I still do the massage even two years later, because adhesions can form at any time and good DEEP massaging breaks them up. It HURTS like HECK, but it is worth it. I have actually started doing on the old RNY scar. Will let you know if it works. Guest guest
There's a waoman on the plastic surgery list who lives in and had all her plastic surgery in Brazil. They have nurses who actually massage the scars as part of the post-surgery therapy. Apparently, that is supposed to be what does the trick better than any creams or oils. I've been massaging my chin scar with Jojoba oil, and, so far, it's not doing the pink to purple of pink/white look like the rest of my scars. It just looks like a finger cut. It'll only be 4 weeks tomorrow, but I'll let you know, also. in NJ *************************** > > > Something I learned after two total knee replacements was to do scar > massage.
