Quick question: is vanillin OK?

Hi all:

I'm baking cookies, and had bought a bag of Wal-Mart Sam's Best chocolate chips

because I thought I'd read that they were GFCF. However, now I notice that they

contain vanillin...and they're made on the same lines as milk-containing chips.

First, is vanillin OK?

Also, has anyone used these chips without problems?

Thanks,

They are made in the same facility as milk chocolate but not on the same

lines as milk{or they could not be labeled parve by kosher law} but you are

right they do contain vanillin-it is gfcf accorking to walmart but is listed

on gfcf diet site as a food that could cause problems for some kids. We have

also been using these-previously with no problem -but he has developed some

neew behaviors and I must admit the chips are suspect in my mind right now.

,

I got my little Bible out ( " Special Diets for Special Kids " by

" ), and on page 70 it says " Vanillan is highly phenolic and should

always be avoided (it is on the forbidden list for the Feingold Diet

too). "
