Why remove hardware?

Hello everyone,

I saw the insurance company's Explanation of Benefits for upper

surgery. The hospital bill was almost $14,000 and the surgeon bill

was almost $6,000. My primary insurance, PacificSource, was quick to

deny the claim because it is excluded. PS's policy is the worst! I

think every appointment I've ever had has been excluded for one

reason or another. I'm hoping my secondary insurance, United

Healthcare, pays the claims. I have the pre-approval letter from

UHC, so I'm hoping they will really pay for it, except the $100 co-

pay. I wonder what it would cost for surgery to remove the hardware.

If you've had the hardware (titanium screws and plates) removed...

Why? How long did you have to wait before the surgeon removed it?

Do insurance companies usually pay for this type of surgery?
