Hey Patti--

I'll be there on Thursday. It will be great to catch up with each

other.

I have never heard about a 3 month post op class nor has anyone

informed me about one. I am 4 months post op and I wonder what the

class is about. Lilka

Hi!

I had my srugery on March 6th in Richmond with Dr. Im. At my 4 week

follow up appointment he gave me a slip for lab work and I was to

have it drawn 1 week before this 3 month follow up class that is

meeting tomorrow. It is my understanding that there wil be about 10-

12 people at this class and that there is a case manager, surgeon

and nutritionist there. The Dr. reviews all of the blood work and

lets you know if everything is where it should be at the 3 month

mark. The nutritionist, Beth, talks about moving on to Phase 4, the

final phase of the diet and addresses any questions or food

difficulties that people have had. This is what I've been told by

other people who were in my 14 week Bariatric Prep class that we

have to take in Santa .

This appointment was scheudled automatically for me along with

another meeting that would have been a 4 month class that I have

heard is with a psychologist. I had to cancel the 4 month meeting

as I'll be on vacation and I'm bummed about that. I'm going to try

to get into the next one.

It is my understanding that some time just after the first of the

year the sequence of follow up appointments changed - maybe that's

why you didn't get scheduled. If you had surgery in Richmond

though, you should definitely give them a call - if for no other

reason than to get your blood work checked. Like you, my weight

loss is not very fast (48 pounds in 3 months, most in the first 6

weeks, and quickly slowing) - and I'm only 41 - so I'll be curious

to see if my blood work is a bit out of whack!

Good luck - but definitely make sure that you've gotten your blood

work done.

Help. What time is the meeting? I live 3/4 of an hour away from

richmond and I am afraid that if I don't find out about it until 9

AM it will be too late. Lilka

Hi Lilka--

Sorry, I didn't see your message until this evening. Give them a

call - it is a group meeting, but it is scheduled as an appointment -

it's not a drop in sort of support group. There was a lot of good

information shared this afternoon.

Be proactive and give them a call and make sure that you haven't

been forgotten and that you get your blood work taken care of. It

seemed that most people who were there today had lost between 40 and

50 pounds at the 3 month mark. So if you fall somewhere in there,

you are right on track.
