Guest guest
I am 8 weeks post-op and I have feeling fabulous ever since I passed my fourth post-op week. However whenever I try to lie flat I have a feeling or discomfort and bit of mild pain later. I tried taking my nap two days in a row in my bed instead of my trusty recliner. I had so much pain today that I could barely walk. Is this normal? How soon did the rest of you start sleeping flat? Is it something that I have to ease into? I am a little bit concerned because a friend told me that people can heal uneven and end up having problems. She told me to be sre that I didn`t slump during the healing time because I could heal in that position. I didn`t lean or slouch but I have been sleeping in the recliner for 7 weeks. Guest guest
It will get better in time. I slept that long in my recliner too and that was after spending the first 36 days in the hospital. I can now sleep flat. Have faith. You might try some gentle stretching exercises, maybe warm showers on the sore muscles. If that doesnt do the trick, you may want to check with your doctor. HTH, Meli >> Hi, Meli: That's exactly what I was thinking.. that it is probably muscle strain more than anything else. It could also be adhesions but I think that adhesion formation really has nothing to do with sleeping position. In other words, what will happen will happen and one's body will heal whatever way it does regardless. I think your suggestions are great and hopefully they will help. I agree that if these tricks don't work, see the surgeon and perhaps there's something else that can be done. I have slept on my back in the hospital and then on my sides (as I always did - alternating between back and each side) since I got home (with the help of a huge body pillow and painkillers for about 3 weeks just when I slept). all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt.
