Guest guest
Hi Holly, We flew with Angel Flights in September to take my son Collin to see Dr. Ponseti, he is 4 years old. We simply just called Angel Flights and told them that we wanted to take him there for a second opinion but didn't have the means $$$ for transportation out there, it would have been like $900 or something crazy like that for a round trip. They just took our information where we wanted to go and arranged it for us. They were all very simple questions that they asked us. Then they post it on there boards and try to find pilots willing to volunteer for the flight. Feel free to e-mail me at chele323232@... michele Collin's story at http://www.geocities.com/chele323232
Guest guest
I think the web address is Angelflights.org? I don't remember there being a whole lot to the " qualification " procedure, I remember it all beign pretty easy in fact. They'll want to know where you're going, why, what doctor, how often, how long you'll be there....what air ports are close to you. You'll need an airline approved car seat (most are, look for a sticker on your seat saying it's approved) and I remember the baggage limit being something like 50 pounds. Often they won't take 2 parents, just one plus the child. Be warned Angel Flights is not for the squeemish of heart! LOL! These are mostly little 4-seater private planes - like a tin can on wings! The pilots are private plane owners who volunteer their time, plane and fuel expenses. I've flown in planes that looked awful and flown in corporate jets too (those were NICE!) But it was always a fun adventure if you just be brave and think of the memories you're making adn the horror stories you can tell your friends when it's over with. Another thing if you fly with them, DRESS WARM!!! You'll freeze your bohonkus off up there. Those things aren't known for their heat that far up in the sky, not even in summer. hope that helps some. s.
