Guest guest
I sincerely hope no one discourages you from taking care of your oral health, which is key to your overall health. Find a dentist and hygienist you trust; make sure they know about your health situation and what drugs you take/avoid, and rock on with a good cleaning. That is merely the opinion of a layperson who is enthused about oral health. Guest guest
Hi Also, as a preventative, I use a couple of drops of tea tree oil on top of my toothpaste, then when I've finished brushing my teeth, I take just a little water and give everything a really good swash before rinsing. Its really helped and has even stopped tooth pain. But don't let that stop you going to see a dentist! Andy, A number of years ago, when I was a member of The New England List, Someone recommended a tooth and gum treatment called Oramd. It is made from essential oils of Peppermint and Almond. I had just made an appointment for my third gum surgery, so I bought some immediately. I postponed my surgery and wound-up canceling it. I've not had any gum problems since. That was several years ago. Now the whole family uses it, right down to the grand kids. Les
Guest guest
I agree. We need our teeth in good shape! That said, we do need (many of us) to work with our dentists etc. For instance, I cannot use anything in the novocaine family. Period. I can (so far, wondering how long it lasts) use Citanest which is a distant cousin but apparently distant enough not to put me almost into a coma for 24 hours (scary). The drawback is it doesn't last very long so any drilling has to be quick. But I willingly take the second half of a crown prep without anesthesia after it wears off because that temporary pain is so much better than being done in by the ..caine. I also have learned to tell them to use flavor-free pumice when polishing the teeth; yeah, it tastes awful but I don't get an awful headache and worse. And no topical anesthesias, either. Again, I'd rather have the quick jab of a pain than more caine reactions. So, it's not ideal but after getting this all figured out (and reminding them every time, just in case) I get along OK at the dentist once again. My dentist and hygienist are very sympathetic and cooperative. I guess they don't like patients passing out on them very much.
