We all react to drugs differently. Prednisone helped me and I had no side effects. Your not on it for life. Since you have Sarc you need it to get better.

i have been on this web site for about a year and read everyone's post everyday. i was diagnosed with lung sarc 2 years ago after they found it by mistake. i had a chest biopsy done to confirm it was not cancer. looks like sarc smells like sarc, they told me this. i am 33 years old and do not have any symptoms. i have gone every year to get a cat scan done. i went to my pulm doctor yesterday and he informed me that my sarc in my lungs have got bigger. he asked me if i have had any infections lately. when i went to get my cat scan done, i had a bad sinus infection. he told me that in 6 weeks to get another cat scan and that it might be the infection that caused the sarc to be bigger. is there any truth to this? i went to the doctor's by myself, because i thought it would be a normal office visit. i wish i would have taken my wife, because she knows the questions to

ask. my specialist stated that in 6 weeks if the cat scan grew or stayed the same i had 2 options. one option was to start prednisone. second option was to get lung biopsy and than start prednisone. the radiaologist wrote on his review that he suspected a cancer. my specialist stated that he does not feel a lung biopsy was needed, due to confirming thru chest biopsy that it was not cancer. i am writing this to maybe see if anyone had a similiar experience or if the had any guidance. i am scared ****less, because i read how horrible prednisone can be.

Zach, Short term Perdnisone is not so bad, and sometimes that's all you need if you've had no problems, or no symptoms, need to get the sinus infection taken care of first.  I had No problems when I was first diagnosed, then a couple months later did, and

I was on short term Pred. and went into remission, Some never have problems. Sounds like you don't have any symptoms, or did I misread that?  Yes it is true if you have to be on long term Pred. it is better to find another Medication,

Pred. is my hate/love drug.  I hate it when they try to put me on it for long periods or oral, can't take it that way anymore either, but you should be OK with oral.  I do from time to time get a 3 day IV burst, and that I love.

If you had a firm diagnosis of Sarcoid in your lungs, then that is probably what you have now too.  Doubt it's Cancer, however, if you are really concerned then ask for anotherbiopsy.   Radiologist don't always get it right, if those lesions look to be in the same place as

your last CT but are bigger, then probably Sarcoid and  yes probably due to the Sinus Infection, we tend to get a lot of those.  Myself my sinuses are lined with Sarcoid, so I get a lot of infections. Hope this helps, keep us posted on your progress.

Blessings, Marla

Hey Zach

I was diagnosed a year ago after bronchoscopy (sp), my sarcoid was/is in my lungs and spinal chord. Prednisone has been working, and I am almost done being weened off of it. My doc doesn't want to keep me on it much longer. Remicade is my neurologists next choice for a second flare.
