Guest guest
, I believe that your stay in the hospital will go much smoother if you don'thave to cope with caffeine withdrawal. I have been told that you should wean yourself off caffeine the week before surgery. You are not going to get your caffeine fix while there and the headaches and withdrawal won't make your recovery any easier. I weaned myself off of straight caffeine by mixing decaff grounds with regular grounds 50-50. After a couple of days I decreased the regular to 25% and increased decaff to 75%. Should have you in good shape to stop all caffeine after about 5 days. Just use your imagination to picture yourself in the hospital after surgery and you are sweating, shaking, and have painful headaches and you are nauseaus. And these nasty symptoms have absolutely nothing to do with your surgery. Do yourself a favor, at least for the hospitalization, and withdraw from your dependence on caffeine while you still have time to do it right. Once I got completely off caffeine I found I didn't want to go back. Good luck, Cathy > > This is one question that has been bothering me. Guest guest
Not to worry. I was served coffee the same day of surgery, later that afternoon and it was on my tray the following morning. In between I asked for and received coffee from the floor. You just get to sip one ounce at a time like every 15 min. Enjoy. ~~Pat~~ Orlando, FL 252/190/160 (-62) BMI 37.2/28.5/23.6 52 Years Young LAP-RNY 12/10/03 Wayne English, MD Ft Lauderdale, FL Message: 12 Date: Wed, 26 May 2004 20:34:45 -0400 (Eastern Standard Time) Subject: Caffiene...was question about soda This is one question that has been bothering me. Will I be able to have my morning cup of coffee, even right after the surgery? I drink only a cup a day. I do not drink sodas. Yet if I miss my one cup of coffee I have had severe headaches. Once I even had withdrawals...shivers, nausea, etc.
