Unfortunately, this is a virus hoax. These dilute the real dangers from

viruses on the internet. Virus writers can use known hoaxes to their

advantage. For example, AOL4FREE began as a hoax virus warning. Then

somebody distributed a destructive trojan attached to the original hoax

virus warning.

If you feel that you have received a warning from a credible source, please

check out one of the major antivirus software companies websites BEFORE you

pass these things on. They all maintain hoax lists

You should always encourage everyone who sends you this kind of stuff to

verify it at Symantec or Mcafee before passing it along. (as I'm

encouraging YOU to do ...)

http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/virtual.card.for.you.html

Clues that this is a hoax are:

1. the number of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. " SEND TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST !! "

3. " been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft "

Microsoft doesn't send out these types of warnings (especially since most

viruses take advantages in bugs in Microsoft code and poorly written

Microsoft software. ;)

I should have made it clear that the Internet Flower/Virtual Postcard was

the hoax. The W32.Nimda.A.@mm is real and a significant threat.

Please note that if you have updated virus definitions today, there is

little risk so don't be overly afraid of this if you have done the updates.

Jay,

Forgive my ignorance, what does " hoax " mean? I am not familiar with

the term. Does it mean " fake " , not real?

Thanks, Cristina-WA
