Guest guest
I have a few post-op questions. I am 7 1/2 weeks out from surgery and 32 years old. 1. I seem to be able to eat such tiny amounts and I wonder if it is normal. For breakfast I eat 1/4 bagel with peanutbutter. Lunch is salad with meat (about the size of my fist). Dinner is about 5 bites of meat, 2 bites of veggies and one bite of potato. No snacks or desserts. I try and drink water all day long and I do tend to stop 30 minutes prior to meals. I get full so fast and I sometimes have to make myself eat because I am not hungry. Is this normal for this stage? 2. What happened to my taste? I used to love sugary stuff and would eat Ben & Jerry's as an appetizer. Now anything with sugar is just too sweet and hurts my mouth. I have tried so many different candies, juices, etc., but they all taste bad. 3. Has anyone had a tummy tuck after losing their weight? What kind of results do you get? How bad is the pain compared to DS surgery? I am hoping to be able to have one done when I am about 18 months out, around Christmas of 2002. 4. Does anyone else have dreams about being able to eat too much or gaining weight? I seem to have them almost every other night. Last night I dreamt that I got on the scale and had gained all the 40 lbs. I lost back. Now I am too scared to step on the scale for fear that I did gain. I know that I can't possibly be eating enough to gain, but the mind can do strange things. 5. Am I the only one who seems to obsess about all of this? Kathy M. Guest guest
I'll answer the ones that I've experienced. > 1. I seem to be able to eat such tiny amounts What you're describing is very normal. Soon you'll notice you can eat more and more. > 2. What happened to my taste? My tastes changed, too. Right after surgery I likes things that before I'd turn my nose up at and the things I liked tasted bad. I also had a funny taste in my mouth which I later found out was from all the meds and the dry mouth. It took a few weeks for it to go away but finally my tastes did return to normal. Now, I like the taste of all that junk but I just don't want it. > 4. Does anyone else have dreams about being able to eat too much or gaining I dream about my hair! LOL! I think your dreams are normal, stemming from your concern that this surgery will really work. Trust me...IT DOES!!! > 5. Am I the only one who seems to obsess about all of this? You aren't the only one. We all have obsessed about something at one time or another. You're perfectly normal! Micky post-op questions > I have a few post-op questions.
