Guest guest
Good for you!! I actually got better results after we transfered out. We were in San and the only place you can get it done there is Wilford Hall (so they told me). NOw we are in North Dakota and my doctor doesn't think it is safe for me to travel back there and then have to have a surgeon up here take care of the aftermath. So I started everything in April and I am having it in 2 1/2 weeks!!! Good luck to you. If you'd like, you can always email me privately. I would love to hear from other military spouses. My husband just got back from a year in Korea so I know how you feel. And he will be in ALS when I get my surgery but I do not want to have to wait any longer. Take care!! > I was tired of waiting to get to the top of the list (we're military > and they have a waiting list) so Wednesday I called and told them I > wanted a referral to get it done in a civilian hospital. Guest guest
, Good for you!!!! Sometimes it just takes getting that one person on the phone who cares about the job they are doing and want to help. I am glad that you are not going to have to start the process all over again. Your surgery date will be here before you know it. Dora Tired of Waiting I was tired of waiting to get to the top of the list (we're military and they have a waiting list) so Wednesday I called and told them I wanted a referral to get it done in a civilian hospital. Actually I left them a message, nobody answered the phone. Well Thrusday morning they called me and wanted to know why and I told them I've been waiting over a year and in at the end of the year we're moving and I don't want to start the process all over again at our next duty station. They told me to give them an hour to pull my chart and let the doctor take a look at it. An hour later they called back with an appointment with the doctor and a soft date for surgery......next month! I was in total shock! My appointment with the doc is in a week and a half and the date they penciled my name in for the OR is at the end of July. Their gastric bypass nurse told me she was shocked I hadn't already been done, that I was high risk and should have had my surgery within a month or so of being approved. She said I must have got mixed up in the system and actually apologized! Since my husband is currently deployed and won't be here I'm in the process of trying to find someone to come stay with my kids while I'm in the hospital and to stay for a while afterwards until I'm back on my feet. Who would have thought one phone call would get so much accomplished so fast! ~Tanja
