Guest guest
I've been having troubles since my surgery with my teeth. Seems everytime I go to the dentist...(every 6 mos) I have to have something done....chips, cavities...etc. I asked my dentist if it could be due to the bypass....and he said " definitely. " Besides the nutritional aspects, he said we tend to have drier mouths, and the teeth need to be bathed in saliva to keep them healthy. Now, I am facing two new crowns....Ugh....if it isn't one thing, it's your mother! Anyone want to volunteer to donate towards the national debt incurred by my mouth??? LOL! Oh, and BTW, , you KNOW which vites I take....and calcium. Hugs~ Jacque > Of those who are having crumbling teeth issues........ > > Did you for any length of time use: > 1. chewable multi-vites? > 2. chewable (pretend) calcium? The food doesn't get " washed " off the teeth. A good reason to brush and floss after every meal; but with several " mini-meals " per day, it's quite a challenge. I didn't have bypass (I'm a VBGers). My teeth haven't had any problems in my 3 years post op except for one small cavity between the teeth (flossing or drinking probably would have prevented that one). I suspect that the nutritional issues surrounding the bypass DO play some role in the dental problems that folks are experiencing, though the drinking theory is an interesting one also. Guest guest
Hey...great idea...you think that will work? I love Trident SF Cinnamon..and chew it now and then, because I do have a dry mouth, and can't always have my jug of water...not always convenient..ya know! So, maybe I'll just pop in a stick of gum after a snack...will be going through tons of it. Thanks for the idea~ Regards~ Jacque Distal RNY, 5/30/00 Drs.
