Guest guest
, I share your worries. Before I began my life change (early this year) I weighted 150lbs. I am 5'9 " male and have been slim my whole life. At 150lbs most people said I was too skinny. After 3+ months of a mainly veggie diet I was down to 130lbs. Everyone I know noticed and told me they were worried. Well guess what I got down to 120lbs. I'm sure everyone I have not told thinks I have HIV. I think my major weight loss was related not just to eating veggies but I don't think my body was getting enough nutrients from what I was eating (not to mention leaky gut ect). I think I ate too many raw veggies. I am eating fruit (early in the day and maybe an apple or something similar 30 mins before a meal) and a lot more meat, I think these changes are helping. I have much more frequent bowl movements now (2+ times a day now) and my scale said 125lbs this morning! > VERY worried > > Hi guys! Guest guest
I wouldn't rule out celiac disease or gluten sensitivity yet. The tests that they have for them even the gold standard endoscopy can give negative results. It depends greatly on the lab that does the test, which test and who is reading the results. Try an elimination diet, it in my opinion is the best way to see if you are gluten intollerant. Remove wheat, rye, barley and any of the derivatives from your diet for a week and see if you gain any weight. I wish you well! >From: " M. Guest guest
Hmmm, I know how you feel. I hate being called anorexic... but most people that know me think it is hilarious since I am normally eating all the time! I have been eating more fruits, veggies and grains lately and less meat (mostly because I am doing a liver cleanse right now and was told red meat is off limits) I have been eating fish and chicken still *sigh* I really don't know. It is very frustrating because everything on the Internet is: Are you obese, do you want to lose weight? Man! I would like to have a few sites that help with underweight issues. Curezone has a forum with only 6 posts (2 of which are from me *grumble*) I may try to eat more meat... I am worried it will just sit and rot in my colon though. Everything I have been reading suggests to eat meat only a few times a week. *8-)
Guest guest
Ahh the liver cleanse. I want to do that myself as soon as I get off these meds. I just made an appointment for Monday with my doctor to see what he thinks I should do. Most people will think I'm crazy but here is my diet for the last week and I think it is working great (yeah I look at my own stool, how awkward huh). Morning -- Glass of water w/ psyllium, vitamins & supplements, one piece of fruit, two slices of toast (kamut and/or spelt) then make 1/2lb of burger. Lunch -- One piece of fruit 30 mins before, then 1/2lb burger or salmon or chicken or turkey plus a side salad Dinner -- Chicken or salmon or some kind of whitefish. Sometimes a small salad sometimes a bean dish sometimes steamed veggies (broccoli or similar) I'm doing soo much better now. Every few days I try to not eat meat to flush things a bit (a veggie day). This is not a permanent diet by any means but it is working well for me now. I drink only water w/ lemon and/or grapefruit juice (I make this juice daily in the morning while waiting for the burger to cook). I think my biggest problem when I was eating less meat was my body didn't digest RAW veggies well. Fruit helps if you eat it before hand (has enzymes for digestion). Psyllium helped a lot with my loose stool. Also make sure you buy good meat. Hormone and antibiotic free is a requirement for us. I go to Trader Joe's which has excellent prices and great meats (if you believe what is on the packaging I guess). I buy 4% or 8% fat beef. I hope some of this helps you. Keep in mind what is good for me might not be for you. We all have different sensitivities and requirements. Your comment about seeing all the loose weight websites made me think of every time I go to a health food store. I always am looking at the different protein drinks (have not found one yet -- still looking) and when I'm browsing I always hear someone asking a clerk about what diet pills are good and how the ones they are taking now aren't producing any results. I like being different but it's very unusual to not be able to gain weight isn't it! > RE: VERY worried > > Hmmm, I know how you feel. Guest guest
Thanks Stacey, I did the elimination diet already and I had no problems with grains, as an exrta measure, I THEN had the celiac testing done... just to make sure and actually I am on an elimination diet again right now... we had removed flax, rye and oats this time. *8-)
Guest guest
Hi Asli, What extactly does a kinesiologist do? I have never been to one of those or even read up about it. Honestly, I have had this weight problem my whole life. I used to eat all this junk to try and gain weight with no luck at all, I am just worried now because my weight is now dropping... I eat a lot of potatoes and grains. *8-)
Guest guest
I usually eat chicken, fish (canned sardines and kippers) salmon and tuna. I often visit the local vegetarian restaurants to indulge in their wonderful bean soups. I don't think carbs or proteins are a problem. Now my BF says " EAT MORE " Well I know that isn't the answer because I eat many small meals a day (this is supposed to be better for the digestion and assimilation process) I used to pig out till I was past full, but have since changed my ways. Hmm, is prosure like progain? I spent about 80 bucks on that progain stuff from the health store (my ND recommended it) and I tried whey powder too... I didn't gain an ounce. *8-)
Guest guest
My husband works out a lot (major gym freak) I asked him a bit about your problem. He suggested bannana's and peanut butter (that old weight gain standby) And also said going to a health food store or GNC and telling them that you want a weight gainer shake (he likes NitroTECH from GNC which is soy based) and letting them know that you can't have certain things in your diet. Guest guest
I haven't done the " s " liver cleanse yet, but now that I have finally found someone to do colon therapy, I will consider it. I did different herbal ones under the direction of my ND. The one I am doing right now is to take a tsp of rosemary homeopathic drops 3 times a day. *lol* I look at every stool I make... helps me try and figure out if I am actually digesting stuff. I try and eat mostly organic food and only hormon free range meat... tastes much better anyways > I like being different but it's very unusual to not > be able to gain weight > isn't it! Yes! It is annoying I guess just as annoying as for people trying to lose weight *8-)
Guest guest
Thanks Meredith... I tried that already too I tried whey powder and a healthfood store kind called progain. I also eat a lot of cashew butter or almond butter and bananas (ps. peanuts are really unhealthy because of a poisionous mold that grows on them called aflatoxin... I don't eat peanuts) *8-)

Guest guest
I'm glad you're keeping an open mind! I have no idea what is better between veggie and meat long term. I can tell for the short term I need to eat more meat than I was. Do you know your blood type? Good luck on the flush! Guest guest
That's very possible. I am blood type A (vegetarian) but honestly, I am not so sure about the d'Adamo theory of " eat right 4 your type " . I try to keep a balance of complex carbs and proteins. Maybe I will try to eat more protein. *8-) > , > > No diet is right for everyone. Guest guest
Also some vegetarians eat tofu and soy products, which are highly processed and many are genetically modified just like the other crap on the shelves that made us sick to begin with. I agree that eating meat (especially the " factory " made meats as opposed to organic, free range, hormone free) 3 times a day is probably unhealthy for anyone. A few times a week is okay. *8-) Many > people often point > out that vegetarians often have more serious health > problems than meat > eaters. Guest guest
I eat Sol Cuisine's Organic Tofu. Please tell me it's not full of garbage. LOL Do you eat Tempeh? Although the taste is very strong, it's even higher in protein than Tofu therefore better for you. I have a recipe I tried out last week for it, but I had to adlib some of the ingredients. It turned out very very salty, but I could handle the tempeh part. Btw, I went to one of those restaurants on that list you gave me. Although the ambience was nice, I ended up drinking alcohol : ( & only 2 - 3 items on their menu had protein in it. I asked the waitress what was up w/ that & she just shrugged. Very modern vegetarian food & the appetizers were interesting & tasty, but very unhealthy. People walk out of there not getting their required amounts, drink alcohol thinking all the while they are eating healthy. <sigh> That's why I said.... Anyone want to open a REAL healthy rest.? I mean really. : ) Re: Re: VERY worried Also some vegetarians eat tofu and soy products, which are highly processed and many are genetically modified just like the other crap on the shelves that made us sick to begin with. Guest guest
Hey !! Hehe, you are a bit behind in answering.. were you on vacation? I personally feel the problem is parasites. I did a parasite cleanse last year but I am going to try it again with the style of this board. Right now I am taking a bit of oil of oregano, I will try some garlic and I still have some candi-bactin from last year, and i will look into getting some cloves and grapefruit seed extract. My colonics have been pretty good so far. I have had 3 sessions and my next one is tomorrow. My first 2 sessions had a lot of light coloured stool.. this apparently means that I have no been digesting food properly (which I already knew), the 3rd one however, it was finally getting darker. The 3rd one was a pretty bad one for me because there was a lot of bubbles and gas with a lot of hard compacted stool comming out. She says she hasn't seen any parasites yet, but I sometimes see white stringy stuff in the toilet after going to the washroom. I'm really enjoying the colonics so far, the lady I am going to is very nice and I am sure this will really help me a lot. BTW, I am down to 101 2 weeks ago to 108 when I checked yesterday (so no idea what's going on with my weight) Thanks for your concern *8-) > > Jeeze, > > It sounds like you've tried everything under the > sun. > > Hmmm, I'll have to read further to see if anyone hit > the nail on the head. > > I feel for you . > > > >
