Guest guest
Hey I was not on a " clear " diet when I was in the hospital. In fact, they pushed Boost or Ensure. (Personally, I think Boost tastes better.) I had all sorts of soups through a syringe and the zip-n- squeeze bags. But I'm not the doc. They even let me have Sprite and Coke. (Which I had read you couldn't have carbonated beverages.) So, I would definately follow your doctor's advice. But ask him because everyone is different and he may allow things you wouldn't think. Hope that helps and good luck! Casey > > I recently read that after surgery you can only drink clear liquids > for a while ~ could someone tell me how long this is for? Guest guest
I almost forgot, the doctor gave me everything I needed including syringes and zip-n-squeeze bags. > > > > I recently read that after surgery you can only drink clear > liquids > > for a while ~ could someone tell me how long this is for? Guest guest
the hospital gave me a whole kit, including a syringe. i'm pretty sure they'll give you one there. i was on clear liquids for 2 days. it sounds really difficult if you are a vegetarian so i would definitely bring vegetable stock, clear mushroom soup, clear juice (apple, cranberry, white grape). i dont think watered down tomato soup works but you can ask. the reason you are on a clear liquid diet is for your stomach because it will be really sensitive from the anesthetic. i am a fake vegetarian (used to be a real one) who eats chicken, so chicken broth worked out for me and it was sooo good on my stomach! there is some ingredient in chicken that soothes the stomach. gina > > I recently read that after surgery you can only drink clear liquids > for a while ~ could someone tell me how long this is for? Guest guest
Also, Ensure sometimes fits into a " clear liquid " diet, because it is not milk-based. Our GI specialist, for example, lets his patients who are preparing for colonoscopies have Ensure, even when they are on clear liquids. Not everybody knows this -- I have had to battle with some hospital staffs about it. But do ask your doc. If he doesn't want you to have it, of course, do not!
