Guest guest
Does anyone know if this is the standard in Canada? (more to the point, Halifax?) Has anyone ever heard of an allergic reaction to these screws?? I believe I have certain allergies to plastics and I wonder if I need to get tested first ~ yikes! > > > > > > > > > > > > just wondering if the reabsorbable plates and screws eliminate > the > > > chance of feeling the plate and screws in place after surgery. > And > > > how they have worked out?? Guest guest
Hi I can't really say anything about the standard in Canada, I have no idea, but for what it's worth I'm in Ontario, and I'm not getting them. I'm just getting the regular titanium ones. - > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > just wondering if the reabsorbable plates and screws eliminate > > the > > > > chance of feeling the plate and screws in place after surgery. > > And > > > > how they have worked out?? Guest guest
My surgeon simply said " they are not stable enough " , referring to resorbable plates. He preferes to have titanium in there. My answer? Well, I want to remove them all, so he said no problem, although I need a second procedure and more incesions etc. FDA did approve them, they have been used since 1996, but they are not that receommended most of the times. For children they may use them becuase the metal may move as the jaw grows over adolescence. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > just wondering if the reabsorbable plates and screws > eliminate > > > the > > > > > chance of feeling the plate and screws in place after > surgery. > > > And > > > > > how they have worked out??
