Does anyone know if this is the standard in Canada? (more to the

point, Halifax?) Has anyone ever heard of an allergic reaction to

these screws?? I believe I have certain allergies to plastics and I

wonder if I need to get tested first ~ yikes!

Hi

I can't really say anything about the standard in Canada, I have no

idea, but for what it's worth I'm in Ontario, and I'm not getting

them. I'm just getting the regular titanium ones.

My surgeon simply said " they are not stable enough " , referring to

resorbable plates. He preferes to have titanium in there. My answer?

Well, I want to remove them all, so he said no problem, although I

need a second procedure and more incesions etc. FDA did approve them,

they have been used since 1996, but they are not that receommended

most of the times. For children they may use them becuase the metal

may move as the jaw grows over adolescence.
