Guest guest
Hi there WLS friends! I am almost 21 months post-op, and recently started gaining, which brings me here looking for answers. Many may remember me from the AMOS Q & A where I have been quite active in the past. It is nice to see familiar faces (names) here! I originally thought that a 5 lb gain was a fluctuation. Boy, how I wish it had been! The 5lb turned into 7 lbs. So, I have been here lurking and learning and really receiving encouragement by hearing others' stories. It has given me the boost that I needed to make a few changes. In the past week I have lost 2 of those horrible pounds, but it has been really tough, I just don't get full on small amounts anymore. I also eat very healthy. The only carbs I allow myself is one piece of whole wheat bread a day, and that is from wheat that I have ground myself. I also put fresh ground flax in my bread. I always have fruit for my 'sweet tooth' and that seems to be one of my trouble spots. Back in my pre-WLS days, I would have never fathomed that fruit would be my enemy! It was always a healthy food! How disappointed I am that I have to cut out my fruit! But that is what has helped me lose 'the two'. And how I crave it!! I have always done the protein drinks, but recently discovered the taste of the Adkins and I really like it. For some reason it fills me up for longer periods than my other pro drinks. With my others, I am hungry an hour later. My fullness is always short-lived, and that is part of my struggle. Are the Adkins shakes OK? Metabolism...mine has always been real sluggish. Is it just as good to start out my day with a shake and have that instead of a solid? I know that eating first thing in the morning is a metab. booster, I just cannot stomach food first thing in the AM. And this board is SO active, how do you guys keep up? What is the easist way to follow the messages...do you do the email or just come here directly? I don't want to miss anything! Thank you for any advice/suggestions that you have to offer! Your wisdom from experience is SO appreciated! Oh, and Faye..for some reason I cannot get your AMOS profile when I click on your link. It says that your prof. is not available. Thanks again!!
