Guest guest
Just a stray thought. Many people have commented that BTVC the book seems to be more geared towards diarrhea than towards constipation, even though both conditions are opposite ends of the same spectrum. People have also observed that cheese, including dry curd cottage cheese, tends to be constipating for some of us. Elaine mentions not eating eggs until brisk diarrhea has subsided. (Except in the cheese cake.) Now, chicken soup is good for whatever ails you. But I am wondering if people who lean towards the C end of the spectrum would do better with the soup and meat -- and mild veggies pureed with some of the soup broth? I have absolutely zilch to go on when considering this except the fact that my own intro diet was two kinds of roast meat, steamed zucchini, and soft boiled eggs. My situation was a soft, mushy stool which many times didn't want to come out. Soft constipation? We keep saying that everyone is different, and that this is what makes SCD so powerful (not to mention frustrating!), the ability to customize what we eat to what our symptoms are. I'm wondering if something like egg drop soup with pureed vegetables might be helpful for the people who incline towards constipation? — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
Marilyn, I think that is a great idea. I can’t eat meat because it constipates me so much. I tried the chicken soup on intro but had to stop it because OH WAS I CONSTIPATED!!! Absolutely nothing worked to get me going. Egg drop soup…why didn’t I think of that ) Thanks, GERDS and chronic C. After all, Elaine gave the intro diet she used for her daughter. And she basically said that the object was to find easy to digest foods to clear the path for healing. If eggs may cause issues for people with brisk diarrhea, they might potentially be good for people with the opposite issue. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
