Guest guest
SCD yeast. do you mean S.boullardi? I have some but didn't take it yet because i've heard it can cause major die off/flare. Just be careful with that one.If you're on the East Coast i'd gladly help you out. I can make yogurt for ya!Also, maybe try dripping your yogurt when you start out. You lose some of the probiotics but alot of people tolerate it better this way because most of the galactose is in the water (or what would be whey if it has lactose in it)-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 8 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 12 pills a day Prednisone 40mg entocort With vit E mixed inBack to intro/stage 1 for now.To: BTVC-SCD From: scdquery@...Date: Wed, 24 Mar 2010 16:19:14 -0400Subject: 5 yrs... still bloated Hey all,I was unable to properly finish intro diet and reintroduce foods slowly because I had housing problems etc. trouble, so I just started f******* eating foods as soon as I could get them down my throat, without pain. 5 years later, I haven't had d* for yrs, I figured out that frozen packaged winter squash was causing problems, psychiatric pills were causing problems, and a vitamin C supplement (not a great idea, I know, wasn't my first choice (desperate)) were causing problems. I eliminated them, just finished eliminating the vitamin C (took 2 months+ to taper), that helped so freaking much my immune system stopped attacking my adrenals and I was able to (could not longer tolerate actually) the herbal medicine I was taking for them. then my liver crashed and I am pulling out of that knock on wood with "milk thistle +" and beets. however, I'm still bloated. I am a part time student, I have bad PTSD, I've been missing a lot of work. My boss has given me spring break off next week, but looks like I really have to get back after that. I am thinking maybe I should attempt a form of intro diet. However, I have severe deficiencies, minerals and some vitamins (huge vitamin A deficiency and vitamin D, am supplementing fish oils for that). I have trouble functioning, mentally and physically. every different food I eat helps so much, I am afraid to give anything up. I don't really have anyone to help me take care of myself. I've been looking at the intro diet and the stages. I am confused. I don't know how far back I will have to go, how strict I will have to be, and how fast I can reintroduce foods. Can anyone please offer me some guidance and advice? I also just ordered some acidophilous and scd yeast, but it won't get here until end of next week.thank you so much, Hotmail has tools for the New Busy. Search, chat and e-mail from your inbox. Guest guest
ok - just making sure there wasn't some inherent issue with people that have IBD's and trying to take C vitamins :)mine is called "allergy C" by twinlabs - i believe it's legal but thought i might check now that you say that! Guest guest
Allright, I'm going for the intro. do I need to puree the carrots? (i don't have a blender. maybe I'd better go get one). if cooking carrots separately from soup, should I still cook them for 4 hours? how long is good? Back when I was really sick first on diet, I could not tolerate raw juices, I had to cook them, do I have to do that again? thanks guys, ok - just making sure there wasn't some inherent issue with people that have IBD's and trying to take C vitamins :)mine is called " allergy C " by twinlabs - i believe it's legal but thought i might check now that you say that! Guest guest
, I'd highly reccomend getting a blender, as well as a food processor because it will pay for itself in convenience. I use my blender more than anything else, and you can make good cheesecake this way very very quickly. Do you have a yogurt maker? Or some way of making it? (oven with a light)For intro you're supposed to puree the carrots along with the broth from the soup. It makes an orange "base" for the chicken. I believe you puree it so it's easier on your gut since this it supposed to give you a starting point to work off of and you want to start as easy as possible and work your way up. If you can't puree them, i'd cook them as long as possible so they are as soft as you can get them before adding to the chicken. When were you on the diet before?try going to pecanbread.com and looking up the stages. That will help with some questions as well. I would cook all my veggies and fruits for now. I still cook all my veggies and i've been on the diet 8 months. The hardest part is that everyone is different. You can ask a question and get 10 different answers because 10 people all had different outcomes doing the same thing. what foods are tolerated and when is a very personalized thing.Just follow the basic guidlines and try to listen to what your body is telling you. It's very challenging and takes alot of time but people have done it!Hope this helps....-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 8 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 12 pills a day Prednisone 40mg entocort With vit E mixed inBack to intro/stage 1 for now.To: BTVC-SCD From: scdquery@...Date: Sat, 27 Mar 2010 01:07:01 -0400Subject: Re: Re: 5 yrs... still bloated Allright, I'm going for the intro. do I need to puree the carrots? Guest guest
I never pureed the carrots on the intro. Just cooked them in bite-sized pieces for four hours. Not mushy but soft. As far as blender and fp; didn't use either to start the diet. I used a fork or serving fork for almost anything since everything had to cooked, peeled and seeded and sometimes a hand mixer but not often. debbie 40 cd
