But he's not thinking! He left those pancakes out for Dana thinking that because he gave Josh the safe waffles, he wouldn't bother Dana's unsafe pancakes. And had he TOLD me, I could have watched out for her food.. but he didn't even TELL me. I actually made him take back the unsafe syrup and get the regular kind.. Good Gosh, we've been using the same brands for months and months.. I've even taught him how to read labels for things, checking kosher symbols,ect.. He's not a newbie to this! He's apparently had some kind of stroke or something and has totally forgotten that he can't just willie nillie pick up any old thing. Guest guest
Wow. You poor thing. I fixed this problem a year ago. We don't even have Bisquick in our house. No unsafe cereals either. Maybe he's just overloaded(like you aren't!) Try Van's wheat free waffles, Kinnikinnick pancake mix and breading for chicken, chops, etc., and EnviroKidz safe cereals. These all taste so good that the whole family will eat them so no chance of a slip-up. Also, Tinkyada pasta tastes and has the texture of the real thing. Just a thought. Then tell your husband once he starts behaving he can have his Wheaties back in the house : ) Wendi OT Vent.. DH (and I don't mean DEAR) Dietary sabotage! > ARRGH.. Guest guest
It is so much easier just to have the whole family go cfgf. No cross contamination issues then. We all like the rice/soy waffles and pancakes from scratch just as well as the wheat ones, for example. The only thing that is just not the same for us is the cheese dishes like macaroni and cheese and pizza, but, oh well, the non-autistic members of our family can get them when they are out of the house, visiting or whatever. Guest guest
> ARRGH.. I'm so frustrated I could just scream! We've been GFCF with Josh > since April. ***Same here! But he's getting better (LOL). Now he asks: " Is this ingredient ok? " . I do the groceries, so he doesn't have to worry on that one. And I do most cooking. When he cooks he only uses the same spices on everything, and if he wants to add something new, he'll ask me (now he does). The trick I've learned is to always say things a zillion times, even if it annoyes him: this way he'll think twice and end up saying: " You look at this and tell me if I can give it " . The best (or worst) is that He saw on his bad gluten day and he couldn't stand it. So he knows he wants to avoid him being hyper and wild and tantruming, therefore he'll follow directions. ) I still have a hard time with him giving Ice Cream twice (I gave it, then he gives it: never double check with me if already had his daily dose), or something like that, but at least he knows what he can have or not. I had to fight tho, so I hear you loud and clear. We can't afford the whole family on the diet, but we do waffles and pancakes from scratch, and they are gfcf, so that's one ) Hope it gets better. Good luck, Cristina-WA Proud mom to 4.8 yo ASD, & 2 yo NT twins.
