He may just need to get used to bearing weight on that foot. I would

think that if he is able to put it flat than you shouldn't worry. We

have one child with bilateral cf and two without. The child with cf

walked at 20 months. Our children without cf walked at 14 and 20 1/2

months. Other kids with cf walk early. I don't think that cf has

anything to do with it.

Our youngest (no cf) scooted on his tooshie too. Never crawled until

after he learned to walk. It was just more convenient to scoot. We

made a big deal when he started taking steps and encouraged him to

walk. If he wanted something we made him stand up to get it and tried

to get him to step.

He's only been walking for a little over a month now, but walks

everywhere.

Don't worry, keep using the brace without fail.

Thank you so much for your response. I guess I should just be patient. It's

just hard for me to picture him walking. He's very stiff even when he stands

and doesn't even take a step when I try and get him to walk by holding his

hands. And he doesn't cruise or anything, either.

I just need to take one day a time and applaud him for all the things that he

DOES do and try not to focus on the stuff he doesn't do... He's turning one in

15 days, so we have a whole lot to be thankful for!

Hi ,

Our daughter seemed no where near walking on her first birthday! She

starting cruising a couple of weeks later and cruised for about a

month or so and then just took off. It's amazing how fast it happens

once they figure out that they can and want to do it!

Just try to enjoy this time with him, being able to actually put him

down somewhere and get something done lol. Pretty soon, you will not

have that luxury anymore =)

And enjoy the time you have to rest your back before they want to

walk everywhere but won't let go of you! Aleksander wants to walk

all the time, but won't let go of us. I've gotten him down to

holding one hand most of the time, but that took some sneakiness on

my part. I'm looking forward to letting go with both hands! Maybe

by Christmas (when he'll be 13 months).

If it makes you feel any better, my non club foot daughter didn't start walking

until 14 months. However, once she started, there was no stopping her. As for

Maddie, the clubbed one, she's not even three months yet, so it's a little early

for her. Hang in there.

I hope he dose start walkin then. That would be a good christmas present. I have

read on here that many of cf kids have walked at a normal age. My son was not

the lucky one, He didn't start walkin untill he was 2 in a half. That is why

this new doctor is concerned about this. Like I have said before that is why he

is goin to see a therapist ( even though he has graduated from therapy back home

) on Monday the 19th. Is this something I should really be concerned about? Or

should I just wait till we know what is goin on?
